Poor value for money.
For the money paid we did not expect an outside toilet & shower, dirty kettle, decrepit sun lounger, broken tiny fridge & air con that struggled to keep the only room tolerable. At backpacker pricing it would have been excellent, but not for the price paid. We were astonished by the high level of reviews. The food was however very good & most of the local staff were lovely, friendly & helpful. We also met an Aussie at KL airport who without prompting agreed that it is "seriously overpriced for accommodation in a swamp".

Lovely hotel
Great quiet hotel. Close to town but far enough for peace and quiet. 20 minute to town or next to nothing for a taxi. Good continental breakfast and great having the cats there. Great food in the restaurant .

Lots of lizards in the room
Initially we were under the impression that BON TON Resort is a heritage hotel will the amenities. Being there I would say it is more of Motel. There are cats everywhere. We booked this place for one night with the view to extend it, however we left Bon Ton Resort at midnight since there were lizards every where in the room even on the mosquito net over the bed. The toilet, shower and hand wash sink was also located on the outside where there were lizards. So the bottom line is if you are some like me and afraid of lizards and don't like to have cats around your dinning table don't go to this place.

Traditional Kampong House
If you like nature, you will like this hotel that looks like a traditional Malay home that sits on stilts and surrounded by lots of green. I don't quite like the interior because you have to sleep with a mosquito net around you with the air conditioning blowing onto your bed, whilst the rest of the room is not air conditioned. You need to turn on the mosquito repellent. Even in the late hours, you hear birds chirping and other animal sounds which I could not identify. You get lizard crawling up the table where your coffee cups are and it was not pleasant for me.

Underwhelming
After spending 2 weeks traveling around Malaysian islands we finished our trip in langkawi and split our stay towards the north to go on a mangrove trip and then south for 2 days shopping and to see the Bon ton resort. We had two nights and 3 days in Bon Ton, drawn to it for historical and authenticity, food and drink as we are big foodies and relaxation. The whole vibe was a little weird, people working their were strange, no clean towels at the pool, check in and check out was hard as their seemed to be 3 people who did everything. Staff for the kennels and rescue centre were constantly eating around the resort and were visible. Food was a massive let down and way way over priced. Accommodation was ok, it was exactly what I thought it would be but the rooms were so hot it was like a sauna. Overall it was the worst place we stayed and the pricing was rediculas compared to some of the other hotels we had been in. I would not give it more than 3 star and I defiantly wouldn't pay more than £50 per night to stay there.

Fantastic
We loved the easy vibe of Bon Ton. Was on our honeymoon and got a lovely surprise when they upgraded our chalet to the Laguna which was more private. Loved the location (quiet but close enough to Cenang Beach, the luxe rustic feel of our chalet and the service and food. Will definitely recommend it

Overall not too bad, had trouble with wildlife in the room.
Overall it was a nice and quiet spot to stay. Not real close to any beach though. And a short cab ride to town. Bit too far to comfortably walk. Pool was nice, staff awesome, super helpful. Can't speak highly enough of them. Food and drink service was great. The rooms wernt super clean probAbly Due to the rustic nature of the rooms. We had trouble with squirrels or some other critters constantly being in our room, eating all our soap on a daily basis, and keeping us up at night. Would I stay their again?, probably if it was on special. Not sure wether I would rate it 5 star though. If you have allergies to cats don't stay here, as they seem to have run of the place and left unguarded will be in your room wether you like it or not...
